Rev. Elias Burgos led today’s worship service, which celebrated the resurrection of Christ. His message was entitled “God’s Reversal.” Serving as liturgist was Kathy Frank. Jackie Sneed served as greeter.
Scripture readings included Psalm 118:1–2, 14–24, 1 Corinthians 15:19–26 and Luke 23:55-24:12.
Jim Guida delivered a spirited children’s message; telling the kids that Jesus is the biggest super hero of all time, he distributed super hero comic books to them.
During the first hymn, all of the children scrambled to find Easter eggs that had been hidden in the choir loft.
Trisha Uhrhammer and Peter Baird led the congregation in the contemplative anthem “Jesus, Remember Me.” Hymns, accompanied by Cathy Sapunor (piano) and Manh Ong (guitar), were:
Christ Is Alive!
Jesus Christ is Risen Today
Christ is Risen! Shout Hosanna!
The festivities continued with a delicious brunch served in Farrand Hall after the service.
Many thanks to those who brought food, decorated the sanctuary, donated candy, plastic eggs and Easter baskets; and stuffed and hid the Easter eggs. Wendy Aiello again purchased the beautiful Easter lilies which graced our sanctuary and were then taken to the homes of shut-ins.
